Third Grade News
In math, third graders are learning about data while interpreting and creating picture graphs, bar graphs, and line plots. They are also learning to measure to the nearest half-inch and quarter-inch, and use that data to create line plots. In social studies, students are learning about the government in the United States, as well as the countries we’ve been studying this year: Angola, Italy, Mexico, Egypt, Japan, and Argentina. In reading and writing, third graders are continuing a study of traditional tales, strengthening writing about theme and characters. Students are also learning about different kinds of conflicts, and how authors use dialogue to advance a plot, develop characters, and communicate themes. We look forward to studying other traditional tales and planning our own stories.
