Third Grade News

Third graders are working hard.  We are in the middle of our first social studies unit learning about geography.  So far we have identified the continents and oceans, various landforms and water features, and different kinds of maps.  Students have been developing good study habits as they have already prepared for some tests and quizzes.  In math, we are learning about multiplication, including patterns, properties, and strategies.  As readers, we are now enjoying our second Magic Tree House whole-class book, which is giving us a chance to compare and contrast books in the series.  Soon, third graders will begin planning for our first writing project. During Fundations, students are identifying blends, digraphs, and trigraphs in closed syllables. We have also been excited to learn cursive writing!
