  • Kindergarten- Working on their very first self portraits. Learning about the parts of the face and how to draw them, as well as what should go in the background of a self portrait, what clothes the subject should be wearing, and how to make it “all about me”.

    First Grade- Creating drawings of spring animals such as foxes, deer, and bears. Learning about how to show texture and fur on their drawings using lines

    Second Grade- finishing up coloring their architectural castle designs by using oil pastels and watercolor paints

    Third Grade- learning about artist Henri Matisse and how he “painted with scissors” creating collages of geometric and organic shapes. 

    Fourth Grade- Painting their clay bobblehead creations done earlier in the year

    Fifth Grade- Revisiting their one point perspective drawings of cities. Adding color to bring them to life using colored pencils, markers, crayons, and watercolor paints. Considering “atmospheric perspective” and how colors get lighter as things get farther away.

    Sixth Grade- finishing up their final self portraits and working on their backgrounds. Discussing how we can use overlapping to tie the subject of the portrait into the background.

     

  • In Spanish class, the students are currently :

    6th grade: Manipulating sentences by replacing names with subject pronouns.

    5th grade : Asking classmates who completes household chores in their homes.

    4th grade: Locating and examining Spanish-speaking countries.

    3rd grade: Complimenting classmates’ clothing. 

    2nd grade: Discussing popular foods of Spanish-speaking countries.

    1st grade: Locating, connecting, and naming a variety of farm animals. 

    Kinder: Identifying 9 colors.

  • Spring has sprung in the garden! We’ve already started planting and the peas have sprouted.  All grades have been working on preparing our garden for the rest of the planting season, weeding and adding compost.  In the greenhouse students are caring for our seedlings and watching our overnight temperatures in hopes to plant things outdoors soon! Classes have also learned how to propagate our indoor plants with lots of new plant babies lining the shelves in there.

  • Kindergarten

     

    Kindergarten is beginning their bridges unit. They will learn about different types of bridges and make and test a rainbow bridge.

    First Grade

     

    First grade is beginning their 3D Printing Unit. They will learn about animals and create them in TinkerCAD for printing.

    Second Grade

     

    Second Graders are starting their 3D Printing Unit. They will create a custom keychain using TinkerCAD.

    Third Grade

     

    Third grade is beginning the Sphero Robotics unit. They will make and test mini-golf holes using our Sphero robots.

    Fourth Grade

     

    Fourth Grade is about to begin their Stop Motion Animation unit. They will chose an animal and animate its life cycle using paper and iPads.

    Fifth Grade

     

    The fifth grade is beginning their 3D printing unit. They are making a small, usable dome light.

    Sixth Grade

     

    Sixth Grade is beginning their 3D printing unit. They will choose between a fidget or a usable dome light.


     

  • As we return from Spring break our focus is physical fitness improvement.  Over the next few weeks, the students will prepare through traditional and creative ways for their Spring fitness tests. This past winter volleyball really took off and with the help of the custodial staff we were able to put up an outdoor volleyball system that the kids will start to use at recess and after school.

     

     

  • This April, students will be reading stories to celebrate Earth day and National Poetry Month this April! Alongside reading, our students in grades 3-6 will have the opportunity to practice writing their own poetry. Grades K-2 will be expanding on concepts regarding character traits, how a character responds to problems and learning to connect with characters.

     

  • 6th Grade- Continuing to learn about Musical Theatre from origins through the Golden Age, Pre-contemporary, to today’s Modern Musicals.

    5th Grade- Students will apply knowledge of their newly learned cultural musictimeline, as they learn about women in music and the many contributions that women have made to our music development.

    K-2 is working on March songs and activities centered around rhythm and St. Patrick’s Day!  

    3rd grade is moving along with their recorders and excited to earn their belts for their progression!

    4th grade just finished up a fun composer study where they analyzed the music to determine who wrote it!  

    We are prepping and very excited for Ms. Quigg’s arrival!  We’re excited to see what she brings to us from around the world!
