Fifth grade is working hard this holiday season. In ELA we have been reading Hatchet by Gary Paulson. In this book, Brian is stranded in the Canadian wilderness and must survive on his own. We are using this story as a mentor text for our research writing unit on Ecosystems. For this project the students are researching a specific ecosystem and creating a Google Slides presentation based on their findings. In math we are focusing on division. We are learning to use different strategies in order to divide. In social studies we have started to learn all about the American Revolution and how this time shaped our country.
