In math, 4th graders are working on division, dividing tens, hundreds, and thousands, using division facts to estimate a quotient, using the partial quotients strategy, and dividing multi-digit numbers by one-digit numbers. In social studies, 4th graders are learning about the Algonquian and Iroquois of New York and discovering how these Native Americans interacted with their environments to develop unique and complex cultures. In science, students are continuing their energy unit and learning about how energy is transferred through electric currents through sound, light, and heat.
